Jonathan “Jonny” Torres is a born and raised, first-generation Floridian from Miami. His parents, who met while living in Miami, are both immigrants from Bogota, Colombia. Through his parent’s experience in striving to achieve the “American dream,” Jonathan has learned to follow his passions and the value of achieving one’s goals through hard work.
At the age of 15, Jonathan took on his first job at Joe Robbie Stadium where he worked for 5 years, and had the privilege of working 2 Super Bowls, 1 World Series, and countless sporting and concert events. Since high school, Jonathan discovered that he had a passion for being behind the microphone. This set him on a course to pursue a career in broadcasting. For six years, Jonathan worked at radio stations across Florida and Alabama as a production director, voice over artist, and on-air radio personality.
In 2006, looking to broaden his passion for advertising and marketing in radio to all mediums, he took a marketing position with national homebuilder D.R. Horton. Jonathan spent 4 years with D.R. Horton, the nation’s largest homebuilder, working his way up to national social media coordinator. After leaving D.R. Horton, Jonathan joined a Tampa Bay advertising agency where he led social media efforts for the NCAA’s Beef ‘O’ Brady’s (St. Petersburg) Bowl and Gator Bowl Games. As a result, Jonathan was asked to speak to the Football Bowl Association in 2011.
In 2012, Jonathan was tapped to be the first Director of Digital Integration for the Republican National Convention. Last year’s RNC pioneered numerous digital initiatives including Google Hangouts with the likes of Karl Rove, Governors Rick Perry and John Sununu, and was the first political convention to have both English and Spanish Twitter accounts which resulted in millions of views, impressions, and interactions across its diverse digital properties with people around the world.
Currently, Jonathan is a Senior Account Executive for nationally-renowned digital media firm Harris Media. Harris Media is proud to work with national and statewide Republican leaders such as Governor Rick Scott, Governor Rick Perry, Governor Jan Brewer, Newt Gingrich, Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Mitch McConnell, and many more. Additionally, during election cycles, Jonathan works as a political analyst for statewide, national, and international media outlets.
